Recently I have learned that the Yu'pik culture believes the soul of an animals resides in its bladder. So they save the bladder sometimes drying it out and hanging it in the house. Some give it to people that mean a lot to them and others give it back to the earth as a way to insure good harvest next time. Some only save the bladder of a bear while others save from all the animals. Still others only save one from all of their kill. The bladder forms a ball and the insides look like herbs. They don't produce a smell to me however I have a terrible sense of smell.
